For many people living with a disability, staying active isn’t just about keeping fit - it's about maintaining freedom, confidence, and the ability to live life on their own terms. That’s where physiotherapy under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can make a big difference.

At My Allied Care, we’re proud to support NDIS participants with personalised physiotherapy that’s not only clinically effective but also focused on your goals, preferences, and everyday needs.

What Does a Physiotherapist Do Under the NDIS?

Physiotherapists are highly trained professionals who assess, diagnose, and treat physical conditions related to movement and function. Under the NDIS, physio support can be included in your plan if it relates to your disability and helps you achieve greater independence.

This might include:

  • Improving your strength, balance, and coordination

  • Helping you recover from injury or surgery

  • Reducing chronic pain

  • Managing neurological or musculoskeletal conditions

  • Supporting your ability to walk, stand, or transfer safely

  • Preventing falls and future injuries

At My Allied Care, our physiotherapists work with both adults and children living with a wide range of physical and neurological disabilities - including cerebral palsy, acquired brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and more.

How Physio Supports Independence

Every NDIS participant has unique goals. Some want to be able to walk to the local shops without support. Others might want to build enough strength to transfer in and out of a wheelchair more easily. Physiotherapy can be the key to unlocking those milestones.

Here's how:

✅ Functional Goal-Setting

We start by understanding your goals - what do you want to achieve in daily life? From there, we design a treatment plan that’s realistic, measurable, and tailored to your lifestyle.

✅ Building Confidence

Mobility issues often go hand-in-hand with a loss of confidence. Through consistent therapy, many participants regain the confidence to move freely, engage in the community, or return to hobbies they love.

✅ Prevention-Focused

Our physios don’t just treat current problems - they help prevent new ones. By strengthening muscles, improving balance, and advising on mobility aids, we can reduce the risk of falls, joint injuries, and other setbacks.

How to Access Physiotherapy Under Your NDIS Plan

Physiotherapy is usually funded under the “Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living” support category. You may also be able to access physio supports through “Core” if you’re self-managed or plan-managed.

At My Allied Care, we work closely with participants, support coordinators, and plan managers to ensure services are:

  • ✅ Properly aligned with your NDIS goals

  • ✅ Easily scheduled with minimal wait times

  • ✅ Delivered at home, in-clinic, or via telehealth - whatever suits you best
