When it comes to staying independent, comfortable, and safe at home as we age, allied health services play a crucial role. Services like physiotherapy, exercise physiology and podiatry aren’t just about treating injuries or managing foot pain - they’re about helping you move more freely, avoid falls, and maintain your overall wellbeing.

The good news? If you’re receiving support through a Home Care Package (HCP), these services can be fully or partially covered under your funding.

At My Allied Care, we’re here to make accessing allied health simple, stress-free, and tailored to your individual care goals.

What Are Allied Health Services?

Allied health includes a wide range of healthcare services that support people to live well, manage chronic conditions, and regain or maintain their independence. For older Australians, some of the most commonly used allied health services include:

  • Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology – To improve mobility, strength, balance, and manage pain

  • Podiatry – To maintain foot health, prevent falls, and manage diabetes-related concerns

While My Allied Care primarily focuses on physiotherapy, exercise physiotherapy and podiatry, we can also connect you with other trusted allied health professionals if needed.

What Is a Home Care Package?

A Home Care Package is a government-funded program designed to help older Australians remain living independently at home for as long as possible. Packages are available in four levels (from basic to high care needs), and the funding can be used flexibly to support your health, safety, and comfort.

Each package is managed by a Home Care Provider, who works with you to create a care plan and manage your budget.

How Can Allied Health Be Included in Your Package?

Allied health services fall under the “care services” category of your Home Care Package funding. They are considered essential supports when they help you:

  • Maintain or improve your mobility

  • Recover after illness or surgery

  • Manage ongoing pain or chronic conditions

  • Prevent falls or hospital admissions

  • Address conditions like arthritis, stroke, or diabetes

  • Maintain independence in your daily activities

Your case manager or care coordinator can help determine how these services fit into your care plan and budget. At My Allied Care, we’re happy to liaise with them directly to ensure everything is set up properly.

How My Allied Care Works With Home Care Packages

We understand that navigating your Home Care Package can be confusing - but we’re here to take the pressure off. Here’s how we support you:

✅ We Work With Your Provider

We’ll coordinate directly with your Home Care Package provider or case manager to arrange services, manage billing, and ensure your care plan reflects your current needs and goals.

✅ We Come to You

Our mobile physiotherapy and podiatry services mean we visit you in your home - no need to arrange transport or travel to a clinic.

✅ We Prioritise Your Goals

Whether your aim is to walk more confidently, reduce pain, or simply keep your feet comfortable, our team will design a treatment plan that reflects what matters most to you.

✅ We Make It Easy

No lengthy paperwork. No hidden fees. Just reliable, professional support from a team that genuinely cares.

Who Pays for the Services?

If physiotherapy or podiatry is part of your care plan, the costs can usually be fully covered by your Home Care Package, depending on your available budget and package level. If you’re unsure whether you have enough funds, your care manager can help review your allocation.

If you're privately funded or waiting for a package, we also offer affordable private rates.
